You'll have to wait an extra year to play Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4

Microsoft scored one hell of a coup when it announced exclusive first release rights to Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox One and Xbox 360, but the game was sure to hit other platforms eventually. Now we know when.
Sadly, it's not very good news for PlayStation 4 owners. While the Xbox versions release this 10 November, the rival console won't get the game until the 2016 holiday season. It's a daunting delay for Lara Croft's latest glossy adventure, and releasing after Uncharted 4: A Thief's End next year might not do it any favours.
Luckily, PC players get a much better deal, no doubt due to Microsoft's interests on that end of things. The game will launch for Windows 10 and on Steam early in 2016, likely sometime in the first quarter. The PC version of the last Tomb Raider was particularly impressive, ultimately leading to the later remastered edition for Xbox One and PS4

Destiny review

Expectation can be something of a double-edged sword. One edge is the lovely everyone-wants-to-buy-our-game edge. The other is the everyone-thinks-this-game-is-something-that-it’s-not edge. It’s very possible that no game in the history of games typifies that more than Destiny.
Ever since the acronym MMO was uttered in proximity to the name Destiny, certain expectations have been attached to it by a particular set of gamers. These guys are expecting an action game of Halo-standards in a world the size of World of Warcraft. That isn’t what Destiny is (and in fairness to Bungie, it never said anything about it being an MMO), but the fact that it’s a good two-thirds the way to that heavenly, perhaps unreachable goal, means it’s an exceptional, landmark game.

Forza Horizon 2 review

After initial concerns that it would dilute the hardcore spirit of the game too much, we unexpectedly fell head over heels with the original Forza Horizon on Xbox 360. That meant expectations were high for the sequel, particularly considering its access to the turbo-charged power of a next-gen console.

The Last of Us Remastered review

In The Last of Us Remastered the already technically spectacular PS3 game gets the PS4 treatment, with higher resolution graphics and a 60 frames per second refresh rate. Not only that, but it bundles in bonus extras such as director commentaries, multiplayer map packs and the excellent Left Behind story DLC.
If you played it the first time around you’ve now got the perfect excuse to play through again, and anyone who missed it on PS3 is in for a gaming experience like no other.

Bloodborne review

Well, Bloodborne’s not like that. Not only does it not spoon feed, you get the impression that the game doesn’t even like you. Heck, Bloodborne probably hates you.
It's terribly hard and more obscure than a bad Russian translation of a James Joyce novel, it also takes place in one of the least inviting settings you can imagine. It’s set in a grim old world, is Bloodborne. However, if you can embrace the gloom and hold on tight through its many hard-as-nails sections, you’re rewarded with one of the most involving and rewarding games of the current generation.
It’s a big win for the PS4, which gets a console exclusive on this slab of bloodied meat.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt review

Thankfully, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt isn’t that sort of game.
By which I mean that it is that sort of game in terms of being massive (around 50 hours for the main story, another 50 for the side quests, and perhaps another 50-100 for general exploring, investigating and tom-foolery), but its environment is so detailed and full of life, its story so engaging and its activities so interesting, that every hour spent in The Witcher 3’s company is a pleasure.

Far Cry 4 review

You certainly ideally want more than the four days we were allowed with Ubisoft’s new open world shooter. This isn’t to say you won’t be able to finish the game’s main campaign in the time we were allotted to play it in, because we did. That’s just to say that that there’s so much more going on in Far Cry 4 beyond its narrative that it could keep players glued to it for weeks. Possibly months.
The reason for this is that Far Cry 4 puts a premium on distraction. Players may set out intent on taking part in a story mission, but on their way to a checkpoint they’ll invariably run across a radar tower or an enemy-held outpost or even a herd of animals whose pelts they need to unlock a weapon slot and all of a sudden, their original motivation goes flying out the window.

EA Holding a gamescom 2015 Press Conference on August 5

Confirming the news to GameSpot after an invitation appeared online, EA will be holding a press conference during gamesom 2015 on Wednesday, August 5 at the Koelnmesse.
The conference is expected to last for 90 minutes and begins at 10am in Germany, which converts to 1am PT/4am ET.
EA didn’t say if the conference would be livestreamed, and they didn’t offer up any details about what might be shown, but it’s a good bet we’ll see their upcoming sports titles (Madden NFL 16, NHL 16, FIFA 16), Star Wars Battlefront, and Need for Speed.
As we learned earlier this year, Sony won’t be holding a gamescom 2015 press conference.
What do you think EA will be showing off at gamescom?

Street Fighter V Beta Starts Today, Includes Random Matches Only & Daily Maintenance

Set to begin later today at 6pm PT/9pm ET exclusively on PlayStation 4, the Street Fighter V beta is accessible by entering the code you received from retailers or through the PlayStation Store if you pre-ordered the digital version.
Giving out some important details ahead of the beta, Capcom reminded everyone that Ryu, Chun-Li, M.Bison, and Nash will be the only fighters available at launch, with Birdie and Cammy added on Saturday so they can test out their content delivery system. After getting to the selection screen, they suggest practicing scenarios and configuring buttons while in the grid, as you won’t be able to do so before battle.
For this particular beta, you won’t be able to invite friends into matches (all matches are chosen at random), and share functionality will be disabled as well.
In addition to matches being chosen at random, you may also be matched up with anyone in the world, but Capcom explains that this will be different in the full game:
As players wait in the grid, we will match players up with opponents. Please note that there’s a possibility of being matched with opponents ANYWHERE in the world during this beta. This is NOT how the final product will function, as we are still working on our location tracking/match making algorithm. The purpose of this test is to get a large variety of different connections globally, so we can use that data to refine our systems.
To help with performance during the beta, the Street Fighter V servers will be down for daily maintenance from 11pm – 1am PT.
“For those wondering about Fight Money and experience points, those are placeholder at the moment and do not affect the experience,” Capcom says. They later added, “For all of those who participate in the beta, Capcom would like to thank you for participating in history and helping us make sure that Street Fighter V will be the greatest fighting game ever made!”
After playing the beta, you can take a survey (North America, Europe) and leave feedback in this thread.

Mortal Kombat X Might Have More DLC Coming Up, NetherRealm Hints

Tremor was supposed to be the final DLC fighter to come Mortal Kombat X, but a certain phrase issued by NetherRealm Studios during a recent live-stream now makes it seem like that might not be the case.
During the stream, in which NetherRealm discussed the latest DLC character, the studio mentioned that Tremor is the last fighter to be released for “Kombat Pack 1,”indicating that there might be another Kombat Pack on the way. The first Kombat Pack contained a total of four DLC characters.
Do you think that another Kombat Pack could be on the way for Mortal Kombat X, or did NetherRealm just misspeak? And if you haven’t gotten a chance to play as Tremor yet, remember that he was released on Tuesday for Kombat Pack owners, and will release next week for everyone else.

10 PS4 Games That Can Steal the Show at E3 2015

There is no larger spotlight for video games than E3. The Electronic Entertainment Expo gives publishers a huge opportunity as every year there tends to be one title that excites the entire show floor. In fact, if given the right trailer and push, a relatively unknown game can become a sensation that is on the wish lists of millions. Last year, Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky went from a promising looking indie game to being the talk of Los Angeles.
While it is certainly difficult to predict what games will end up stealing the show at E3 2015, this hasn’t stopped us at PlayStation LifeStyle from trying to do so. Here are 10 PlayStation 4 titles that we feel like have a good shot at leaving fans’ jaws on the floor. We didn’t include games that are not confirmed to be at E3 2015, though, so don’t expect to see something like The Last Guardian on our list.
